Coaching Skills for Business (Elective)

This course is designed to provide managers, team leaders and supervisors with the skills needed to develop performance in others. The course will create an understanding of the organisational and workplace context within which performance and career development takes place. It will also aim to equip participants with the skills, tools and knowledge required to undertake coaching assignments and relationships.

General Course Aims: 
  • Understand the distinctive nature of coaching as a tool for workplace competency and career development
  • Learn how to use the GROW model of coaching
  • Understand the organisational context for coaching
  • Learn how to set powerful goals for individual development
  • Understand the non-critical, non-judgmental and confidential nature of the coaching relationship
  • Develop the skills of active listening and systemic questioning
  • Understand how NLP can contribute to coaching effectiveness
  • Develop personal effectiveness

    In order to meet the requirements for accreditation, particpants will be required to submit a Project and carry out a Skills Demonstration. The due date for all assessments to be submitted is 8th October 2010.
